Picture of artist and her artwork.

Why do I create?

I believe that our life experiences and innate tendencies heavily shape how we perceive the world around us. If that is true, then it must take a significant amount of effort and willingness to accept our narrow perspectives and begin to stretch our understanding. As a mere part of this world, I am motivated to look closer and think deeper about the seemingly simple things in front of me, question my perception, and challenge my place of comfort. Despite my efforts, I realize that I must still be missing a lot. This inspires me to push harder to see and understand, and to push through my personal and creative frustrations, in order to further recognize my shared experiences and communicate my own reality to others.

I create artwork in three distinctly different collections, which are united by these common threads of perception, perspective, and looking closer at the complexity of life. A brief statement about each of these collections, as well as examples of their contained artwork are included here. Please click the icons below to access each collection.
